Syrkarn

Syrkarn is the south-central region of light jungles, majestic arid canyons, steamy swamps and savannahs on the continent of Sarlona on Castrovel. It’s southern border is the ocean, its northern is Riedra, and to the east rises Adar.

Syrkarn’s population consists of mostly tribal, hunter-gatherer societies, made up of primitive humans (especially habilis, ergaster, and cro-magnons), half-giants, and shifters. The lashunta have also successfully settled the region—raising new fortress towns, establishing trading posts, and claiming ancient ruins hidden in the forests and ravines. Competing for these mysterious ruins are a sizable populous of ophiduans, rumored to be the agents of the serpentfolk, vile, legendary reptilians who lie hidden in or under Syrkarn.

Although Syrkarn lies south of the Inspired-ruled empire of Riedra, it does not engage in conflict or opposition to the fascist state (unlike its neighbor, Adar). The theories on this vary. Some think Riedra does not deem Syrkarn worthy of its resources, while others posit that Syrkarn’s society and technology (magical or otherwise) are not advanced enough to threaten Riedra. Few know the truth, but among the more terrifying rumors is that something dwells in savage land that even The Inspired fear.
