Gorilla Death Mask
This intricate wooden tribal mask resembles the face of an ape, or a man, depending on the angle it is viewed.
Category:
Description:
The gorilla death mask allows its wearer to climb and brachiate like an ape, effectively bestowing a Climb 20 movement rate.
A creature with a climb speed has a +8 racial bonus on all Climb checks. The creature must make a Climb check to climb any wall or slope with a DC higher than 0, but it can always choose to take 10, even if rushed or threatened while climbing. A creature with a climb speed retains its Dexterity bonus to Armor Class (if any) while climbing, and opponents get no special bonus to their attacks against it. It cannot, however, use the run action while climbing.
Bio:
This mask appears, at first glance, to be of Bekyar make, and far, far too intricate and artistic for the modest ability it bestows. Its history and the full extent of its capabilities are as yet unknown.
It is currently possessed by the tiefling barbarian Nemanji, who has only stated that the jungle itself gifted it to him, “the vines gave it to me,” he said. Monica Montana took a close look at the mask and determined that it was old—and probably not of Bekyar or ape-man make, as it appeared. To the Mwangi scholar, it appeared to be a replica of the golden ape mask worn by one of Old Mage Jatembe’s famed Ten Magic Warriors.
